FIFA ASEAN Cup: Everything you need to know

The first edition of the FIFA ASEAN Cup™ is set to kick-off later this month in Indonesia and Hong Kong, China. Four venues will play host to FIFA’s newest tournament, from 24 September-5 October.

Featuring 14 teams, including all 11 ASEAN nations, the tournament will allow the sides to compete in a structured format designed to provide high-quality international football, strengthen regional connections and create new opportunities for fans to engage with the game.

Four venues in two host nations

The FIFA ASEAN Cup will be hosted in Indonesia and Hong Kong, China. Jakarta’s iconic Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, along with Bandung’s Si Jalak Harupat Stadium will be the Division 1 venues, in Indonesia.

Hong Kong’s brand-new Kai Tak Stadium and Mong Kok Stadium will play host to the Division 2 fixtures.

14 nations, two champions, two trophies

At the end of the tournament, two champions will be crowned. Eight nations will battle to be named the FIFA ASEAN Cup Division 1 champions, while half a dozen teams go in search of the FIFA ASEAN Cup Division 2 title.

FIFA ASEAN Cup Division 1

Group A: Indonesia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Singapore Group B: Vietnam, Pakistan, Thailand, Philippines

FIFA ASEAN Cup Division 2

Group A: Hong Kong, China, Laos, Brunei Darussalam Group B: Cambodia, Myanmar, Timor-Leste

How it works

Each division will be split into two groups, with teams facing off in a single-round-robin format. The winners of each section will advance to their respective finals to compete for the trophy, while the group runners-up in Indonesia also will contest the Bronze Final.

A dozen days of top-class regional football

The inaugural edition will be take place from 24 September - 5 October. Division 1, in Indonesia is set to run from 25 September – 5 October while Division 2, in Hong Kong, will be contested from 24 September – 3 October.
